About the Standard
What is EN 15085 Certification?
EN 15085 is a globally accepted standard for welding manufacturers of railway vehicles and their parts.It sets quality requirements to ensure that products are made to a consistent standard, are safe and can be relied upon.
EN 15085 covers rolling stock manufacturers, such as those who build locomotives, coaches, and wagons, including metro coaches.
It also applies to components and assemblies used in these vehicles.
PZ is an approved certification body that is recognized by the European Committee for Welding of Railway Vehicles (ECWRV) to issue EN 15085 certifications.
These certifications are issued by PRVÁ ZVÁRAČSKÁ, a.s., a company based in Slovakia.Once a company meets the required standards, its certification is listed on the ECWRV website at www.joincert.eu

Requirements for EN 15085 Certification
EN 15085 sets out the main requirements needed to make sure that welding work is done safely, to high quality, and under proper control when building and repairing parts of railway vehicles.

Approved WPS & WPQR
A properly qualified welding procedure specification (WPS) and welding procedure qualification record (WPQR) are prepared based on the specific welding methods being used.

A Responsible Welding Coordinator (RWC) has the necessary technical knowledge and experience, and their duties and responsibilities are defined according to the EN ISO 14731 standard.
